July 26th, 2023 — Powerhouse is pleased to announce our partnership with M-Lab, a Silicon Valley consortium of top-tier Japanese organizations. M-Lab has been leading the next generation of innovation in the mobility, healthcare, climate-tech, and materials sectors since 2016.
Through our partnership, Powerhouse will support M-Lab by scouting and engaging relevant climate tech startups for participation in M-Lab’s Ignite Mobility Workshop, whose aim is to support Electric Vehicle (EV) deployment solutions.
About the M-Lab Companies
The M-Lab consortium is comprised of 13 corporations, including Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas), Tokio Marine Holdings Inc., Asahi Kasei America Inc., ENEOS Americas Inc., Yazaki Innovations, Inc., and Tepco Ventures.
M-Lab member companies have identified common initiatives to form a co-innovation framework that leverages their respective business capabilities, multi-national customer bases, and access to corporate resources.

About the Ignite Mobility Workshop
The environmental case to electrify fleet vehicles is conclusive in Japan and the United States. However, the economic justification for deploying an EV fleet has been challenging because of ambiguous financial return, operational benefits, and the long-term business impact of converting to sustainable business practices.
M-Lab’s Ignite Mobility workshop is focused on creating a platform to support EV deployment solutions by developing an EV Ecosystem serving fleet owners to ease the transition toward electrification.
For this workshop, M-Lab is focusing on three key areas — energy management, optimization of EV fleets, and circular economy innovation for EVs — to create additional incentives or reduce operational costs by optimizing the workflow for fleet owners.
