POWERHOUSE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

Position: Executive Vice President

Entity: Powerhouse Innovation

Reports to: Founder and CEO

Location: Oakland, CA - Hybrid in office and WFH

Who Are We Looking For?

Powerhouse Innovation is hiring an Executive Vice President with extensive experience in both climate and consulting to lead our long-term strategic growth and day to day activities. This person will be in a key leadership position at the organization and a strategic partner to the CEO as the company looks to scale its revenue and impact. They will be responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the organization and empowering the existing team to deliver outstanding results.

What You Will Lead

Strategic Planning and Operations

  • Lead strategic planning, team growth strategy, and develop objectives and key results and KPIs in collaboration with the CEO and team 

  • Oversee the company’s financial performance, leading financial planning and management 

  • Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated throughout the organization and effectively implemented

  • Identify key opportunities for business improvement through analytics, quantitative insights, and good business practices

  • Act as point of contact for outsourced operational units including tax, accounting, and HR

  • Prepare and present board materials

Team Management

  • Ensure that objectives and key results are met and KPIs are tracked and communicated to the team, and that resources are allocated appropriately to achieve those objectives

  • Provide overall team leadership, setting and maintaining the culture, and providing guidance and mentorship

  • Manage team members who lead product, business development, client deliverables, operations, and communications 

  • Attract, develop, and retain outstanding people

Business Development

  • Partner with the Head of Business Development to develop and refine our BD strategy 

  • Engage with potential clients to identify opportunities for innovation and decarbonization in collaboration with the Head of Business Development and Partnerships

  • Lead competitive analysis and evaluate market to improve product and sales strategy in collaboration with the Head of Business Development and Partnerships

  • Lead on product development, in collaboration with the Head of BD, and with input from the Client team

  • Ensure our external presence and community events (New Dawn, Watt It Takes, etc.) continue to enhance Powerhouse’s brand, collaborating with the team to execute communications strategies

Client Management

  • Ensure Powerhouse is delivering value to all corporate and investor clients and maintains an NPS score of 75+ (current rolling NPS is 86)

  • In partnership with the Senior Director of Client Services, support the management of client deliverables

  • Leverage industry knowledge to provide guidance to Powerhouse’s clients

About You

Ideal candidates will have the following hard skills and soft skills: 

Hard Skills 

  • 15+ years of relevant climate tech and consulting experience

  • Experience developing key personnel into strong, autonomous leaders and managers

  • Experience in consulting around technology assessment & adoption, ideally in climate tech, bonus if experience in the electric power sector 

  • Experience in leading (or actively involved in) the sale of consulting projects, especially to large corporations; knowledge of utilities contracts is a plus 

  • Demonstrated success leading consulting engagements for corporate and / or investor clients

  • Experience leading financial planning and management, including budget planning, forecasting, reporting, and contract management

  • Experience working with corporations and investors as clients to drive corporate innovation and decarbonization

Soft Skills

  • Passion for climate tech innovation 

  • High EQ for our work with clients and a drive to help them enable industry wide decarbonization 

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with limited support staff and a small but highly effective team

  • Embody and strengthen Powerhouse Innovation’s values through model leadership and management

  • Approachable and collaborative manager

  • Ability to align scale­up efforts with the company’s mission and vision

  • Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills and willingness to dive into the details and navigate through ambiguity

  • Desire to lead Powerhouse’s growth long term

Compensation

Competitive pay will be offered commensurate with qualifications, and competitive benefits will be provided including select comprehensive medical plans, 401(k) plan, flexible time off, and an annual professional development budget. Base salary range for this role is between $200k - $225k, depending on experience, with an uncapped cash bonus and equity availability.
